Medical illustrations in many of our textbooks and lectures often lack depictions of black and brown patients. Inspired by Chidiebere Ibe, who was a medical student at Kyiv Medical University in Ukraine at the time and who originally called attention to this phenomenon, I decided to create an anatomic drawing using a model that looked more like me. It serves to associate the beauty and intricacy of the human body and anatomy with people of color as well.
