This piece is titled “Subway,” 12″x12″, watercolor, and gouache on paper. I made this piece right before college, which I’d be moving to New York City for. I had a lot of anxiety about how overwhelming it might be, so I wanted to make something that depicted traveling around a city in a more foreign and surreal way. I imagine the people riding the fish don’t know where they’re going, much like getting lost on the subway.
